Julia Samuel is a widely respected psychotherapist and counsellor who specialises in guiding couples and individuals through a range of issues, from difficulty in relationships and self esteem to confusion in transitions through life.
This Autumn, Julia is organising a special therapeutic group for 10 people who are interested in exploring themselves – a fascinating opportunity which we know many readers will want to know more about. Julia explains the thinking behind it:
“In all my years of training and work as a psychotherapist by far and away my most powerful forum for growth and change, as well as sheer joy, has been in groups. The theory is that our experience is multiplied by the number of people in the group, so if it is a healing one and it is witnessed by 10 people, that is extremely powerful. But groups can also feel risky, because we can unconsciously play out our family environment, or if we feel judged it can be as negatively powerful as healing is positively powerful. So how they are set up, and facilitated is crucial and key to their success.
I would like to run a therapeutic group for 10 people, who are interested in exploring themselves and who want to learn about themselves through engaging honestly with each other. I think we could be very creative and find many different ways of communicating.
I’d like it also to be a learning group, so we could decide together topics we could focus on, for example: the masks we develop and what they hide, transitions in life and in ourselves, neuroscience and what it tells us about us, systems to support ourselves. My aim and role would be to create a safe environment where each member feels challenged to be more themselves, but not in any way threatened. I would want it to be a deeply enriching, healing and interesting experience where each of us feels invigorated and inspired to live life more fully as a result of it.
It would be a closed group – that means once we are together no-one else can join. I’d like us to commit to 10 sessions, every two weeks starting mid September. It would be on a Tuesday 6-8pm and the cost is £55 per session. To book or find out more about the course click here”

I agree too. This is definitely an opportunity not to be missed. A place to to feel held yet safe enough to try finding out how others think of you and what you want out of your life. . I can’t think of a more accomplished person to facilitate such a process.
You will be in such loving safe hands yet challenged to able to find out things about yourself that you had thought you had not wanted to know. Think about it but NOT for too long as only ten places . A new start and way of thinking begins in September. Go for it ! You won’t regret it for a moment.
I am sure that lots of WW readers already know Julia. For those of you who haven’t, I just want to add…. Julia Samuel is an incredibly warm, inspiring, dedicated person, a brilliant, sympathetic counsellor and a practical Can Do-er who set up her own charity, which has now helped thousands of people. I can’t praise her too highly. If you’ve been thinking about doing something like this, this is an incredible opportunity, so take the plunge!
