Blighty’s Best Beaches

Blighty’s Best Beaches

With all the financial uncertainty you may be tempted to try some of Beach Tomato’s suggestion for the ‘must go to ‘ British Beaches. If you really want to try something different you can forget our suggested hotels and you can take to the road in a retro VW Campervan. Freddie The Campervan its £350 for a full seven day holiday in low season and £550 for high and can sleep 4 people.

Luskentyre Beach, Isle of Harris, Scotland
For a serene wilderness
Often featuring in top beach lists, okay this magical shore is a little less than secret, but remains wonderfully secluded none-the-less. Reminiscent of far warmer climes, ivory sands stretch out to meet an aquamarine sea. With the grassy hills of the Outer Hebrides as a frame, a truly stunning picture is created. To make the most of the extensive powder, a beach walk is a must here; you may even be accompanied by a friendly wild horse indulging in a stroll himself.

WHEN: April – September

STAY- Hotel Hebrides

Priory Bay, Caldey Island, Wales

Priory Bay, Isle of Wight, England
For a private shrimping spot
On the eastern side of the island, not far from Sandview lies the private shore of Priory Bay. Belonging to the hotel of the same name, this golden sweep of coastline is accessed via a woodland path. Sheltered by trees and completely unspoilt spend your time sunbathing, beachcombing and rockpooling. Why not try your hand at fishing? The Priory Bay Hotel will happily cook your catch.
WHEN: April – September

STAY:The Priory Bay Hotel

Pentle Bay, Tresco, Scilly Isles, England
For a laid-back Caribbean vibe
Boasting one of the warmest climates of all Britain, the archipelago of the Scilly Isles is a tropical island paradise at home. And with sugary white sands, a tie-dyed turquoise sea and the brightest of blue skies (on a good day) Pentle Bay on the island of Tresco is one of the best beaches on the isles. Surrounded by lush greenery, rolling sand dunes and with stunning views out to sea, this shell collectors’ paradise can easily become a reality.
WHEN: March – October
STAY: Sea Garden Cottages at the Beach Hotel

Porth Widlin Beach, Lyn Peninsula, Wales
For a well-deserved sit down
Hidden beneath the rocky hills forming the Lyn Peninsula coastline the secret sheltered sands of Porth Widlin lie in wait for the infrequent guests that embark on the difficult clamber down. Split in two by a grassy valley, the larger beach (although more difficult to get to) holds a greater reward. Pad barefoot through the biscuit-crumb sand then spot dolphins and grey seals from the large rock conveniently shaped like a sofa.
WHENMay – September

STAY:Escape Boutique Hotel

Donkey Beach, Cornwall
For natural charm
Quaintly named, but mistake not, there is not an ass in sight. Nestled amongst lush green hills this gorgeous slip of golden sand is bordered by rocky surrounds and is a world away from the bustling Polperro. Make the most of the sugary sand, have a nosey in the lively rockpools or daringly dip into the azure lagoons for a spot of wild swimming.
WHENApril – September

STAY:Talland Bay Hotel
